Summer Palace Necklace (Blue blossom)

I bought this washi on a stormy day in Tokyo at the Washi Museum. The rain was pouring down, we got lost trying to find it and we thought several times of abandoning our visit. However, we had booked a washi making class at 10.30am, so we battled through the downpour and eventually found it.

When I saw all the amazing washi designs for sale, I was so glad we did!

This washi has a very deep, almost purple, blue, with sakura like white flowers blossoming on it. 

The Summer Palace form is based on two interlocking cubes. It works as an optical illusion, as from some angles it just looks like an interesting wave in and out, and then it turns a little and you can see one cube inside the other.

Each piece comes in its own matching box so it is ready to give as a special gift, or for easy storage.
